Z.en JUNIOR dance company

​We are excited to introduce our first JUNIOR dance company for dancers 8 - 13 year-olds. This programme is created for young dancers who love to dance and are eager to explore the fusion of ballet and contemporary dance. Together with and under the direction of our principal, Chua Chiok Woon, each class includes ballet training, contemporary dance training as well as exploration of choreography that require the dancers to think creatively and take more time to discover and develop their artistic expression, encouraging curiosity in the arts.

 

While the primary focus is still on building technique, artistry, and creativity, this class aims to be an exciting journey of art-making and personal expression through dance. Across the year, the Z.en JUNIOR dance co. dancers will prepare for a dance film and live performance for their friends and family. Should the journey inspire more, opportunities for festivals or competitions may arise.

Through a balance of ballet’s discipline and contemporary dance’s freedom of expression, the dancers will develop their skills while cultivating interest in art-making and art appreciation.

Our Z.en JUNIOR dance co. will train under Ms Chua as well as invited guest artists and teachers. Additional workshops and rehearsal dates that do not fall within the training schedule will be agreed with the group in advance or will be optional.

Pre-requisites:

1. Age: 8 - 13 years old.

2. We welcome all dancers trained in ballet, other classical dance forms, jazz, modern dance, contemporary dance, as well as all talented dancers who love to dance but have not had formal training to submit your application and give it a try!

3. Able to commit to at least one session a week (Fridays / 4:00pm - 5:30pm OR Sundays / 12:30pm - 2:00pm​​​​​)

APPLICATION & VIDEO SUBMISSION

[You will be required to submit a minimally 2min video of your child dancing alone with his/her full body seen at all times. The video should display what your child enjoys doing the most. It could be a dance he/ she has learnt for a dance recital, an examination, a competition, or learnt through a video online, or self-created!]

​Successful applicants will be invited to join us at the live workshop.​
